I'm glad we had the backdrop of yesterday's discussion, assuring us that Jesus provides the means for the holiness He expects -by imparting His very nature-, to give a hopeful context to this reading.
"Jesus says - If you are My disciple you must be right not only in your living, but in your motives, in your dreams, in the recesses of your mind." Wow! That pretty much cuts to the chase. What do you think would happen if we used that sentence to start out a discussion with a non-believer?!?
O.C. says "The only thing that exceeds right-doing is right-being." Do you think that it's also fair to say that right-being leads to right-doing, but not the other way around?

Absolutely! Scripture bears out that Christ is our reconciliation to the Father and our relationship - our being one with Him, just as Christ is One with the Father, is why He came, died and was resurrected. It is only as we yield and become less, so that He becomes preimminent, that the true works will follow our faith. We were just talking about the fact that He never asks us to do anything that He doesn't provide for us or equip us to do. Our responsibility is to ASK HIM for help.
