God’s word creates what it commands. God commanded and everything in the universe was created. That same creating command creates new life in the ones who are the called (“For God, who said ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” 2 Cor. 4:6). As Creator, God is original reality, ultimate reality, and absolute reality. Therefore, everything that God speaks is original, ultimate, and absolute reality. It is truth.
I am reminded of what generations of parents have ultimately used as their last statement to an arguing child in order to assert their final authority over the matter. And that is, “Because I said so”. Ultimately, everything that God says is true simply because He says it.
What does this mean for the Christian? Richard Baxter says, “The truth of God is the ground of our faith, the conviction of our souls, and the rock of all our confidence and comfort….O Christian, what a treasure is before your eyes when you open the blessed Book of God! How it should comfort you and enliven your confidence, to think that all His words are true! All those descriptions of the everlasting kingdom, all those exceeding precious promises of this life and that which is to come, and every expression of the exceeding love of God for his servants – all these are the true sayings of God.”

That our God is a God of Truth, that His Word is True is usually the first truth I teach the children in Children's Church before teaching the passage of that week. It is never too early to begin to learn this. Thank you Terry.
