"If we are devoted to Jesus Christ, we have nothing to do with what we encounter, whether it is just or unjust." O.C. tells us this in today's devotion. We are to cling to Jesus and that is all that should matter to us. "Wherever God sends us, He will guard our lives."
O.C. refers to something that I will always remember my mom telling me years ago. We are to hold our possessions in the palm of our hands loosely. We are not to keep a tight grip on these things, because the harder it will be when and if they are ever taken away from us. Just like O.C. says, "we will have panic, heartache, and distress".
We are to cling to Jesus and His promises. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he wil make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

The Bible tells us that our lives are not our own (1 Cor. 6:19). We belong to God. He both created us and redeemed us (we were bought with price). Paul refers to himself as a bondslave of Jesus Christ. A bondslave does only what his master tells him to do. I think that this underlies all that O.C. is saying here; (therefore, we are on Jesus’s errands…steadily going on with what He has told us to do). If we are His, then our possessions are not ours, but his to do with as he pleases. And if we are His, then we are trusting ourselves to the One who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23). Therefore, one will “not be bothered with whether you are being justly dealt with or not.” Not only that, like yesterday’s lesson tells us, “Let circumstances bring you where they will, keep drawing on the grace of God in every conceivable condition you may be in.”
Amen to both! This was so comforting to me, not only as it relates to my walk but to the walk of both my sons as they continue their military service and are put in dangerous situations. The Lord is so Good and His Love is Perfect. HE IS SUFFICIENT IN ALL THINGS.
