O.C. is very straightforward in today's devotion. The time is NOW. God's grace is for the here and now and we are to draw upon it minute by minute. He points out that, "Prayer is the practice of drawing on the grace of God." But he also admits that "we are very slow to learn to draw on God's grace through prayer". Boy, is that true in my own life!
I picture God's grace as an overflowing fountain! It is so sufficient! Jesus says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (2 Cor. 12:9).
In 2 Corinthians 6:4-10, we read of Paul's hardships. Like Paul, we are to draw on the grace of God. This "will show evidence to yourself and to others that you are a miracle of His" (O.C.).

“Grace is the overflowing favour of God; you can always reckon it is there to draw upon.” This is pictured so beautifully in the allegory “Hinds Feet in High Places” by Hannah Hurnard. On the way to the High Places (places of victory and union with Christ), Little Much-Afraid (described as having feet so crooked that they often caused her to limp and stumble and a crooked mouth which greatly disfigured both expression and speech) is given two traveling companions by the Shepherd to help her on her journey. Much to her dismay, the companions that the Shepherd chooses for her are Sorrow and Suffering. She would have much preferred the companions, Joy and Peace to accompany her along the way. The Shepherd gently tells Much-Afraid that He could carry her all the way up to the High Places Himself, instead of leaving her to climb there. But if He did, she would never be able to develop hinds’ feet, and become His companion and go where He goes. If she will climb to the heights this once with the companions He has chosen for her, even though it may seem a very long and in some places a very difficult journey, He promises that she will develop hinds’ feet. Then He gives her a promise that applies to our lesson today: “I assure you, however, that never for a moment shall I be beyond your reach or call for help, even when you cannot see Me. It is just as though I shall be present with you all the time, even though invisible.” The rest of the story is all about her journey to the High Places with the Shepherd. Oh, that we would avail ourselves of our Shepherd, Who’s love for us is beyond our wildest imaginations!
Two things stand out today..."The one word in the spiritual vocabulary is NOW," and O.C.'s statement that "proof of drawing on God's grace is that we can be humiliated without showing the slightest trace of anything but His grace..." Both are convicting and encouraging! His Grace is always available and I am to live in HIS Victory right now. PTL! He is Able!
