God is Sovereign - Day 1

I think we're all fully aware that we are living in "uncertain times". Seemingly every newspaper, magazine, online headline and radio news report is intent on continuously reminding us that the economy is shaky and all sorts of ominous threats abound. It's enough to get the most optimistic soul running for cover!

Why should a Christian be any different? Why? Because we have the ultimate assurance that our God is sovereign, even amidst the chaos. There is nothing outside of His control and His ultimate purpose. He rules over His creation. The memory verse for the week (Jeremiah 32:17) reminds us that nothing is too difficult for Him. God has never promised us that our lives will be easy, but He does promise to walk with us -- in everything! As Psalm 46:1 states, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Even when we feel that things are spinning out of control, the Lord invites us to rest in Him. True rest becomes possible when we surrender our own idea of how things should be and put our trust, fully and resolutely, in Him.

It is a battle that begins in our minds as we combat the negative events and thoughts that are constantly bombarding us by renewing our minds and hearts with the Truth - The Word - Jesus Christ. May we all continuously hide His Word in our hearts as He alone is our source of all peace, love, contentment and rest. He Who is Sovereign and Good is worthy of all our trust! It is such a comfort to be reminded that there is truly Nothing too hard for Him or beyond His control and purpose.
