"Most of us are much sterner with others than we are in regard to ourselves; we make excuses for things in ourselves whilst we condemn in others things to which we are not naturally inclined." OK, I think I'm really guilty of this. The Holy Spirit usually prompts me when I'm doing this and I have the opportunity to confess it. If I continue on in my condemning thoughts, I always live to regret it. The solution for me is to (as quick as I'm aware of a critical thought toward a person) take that person before the Lord in prayer and ask God to bless them and be glorified in their life. It is impossible to simultaneously hold a negative and a positive thought toward a person in one's head.
I also think it is very cool how God did make our mind, body, soul and spirit to work together. We talked about fasting a couple of weeks ago. That is one discipline that, when I practice it, helps develop my self-control and my patience. I think there are many spiritual things we will learn as we develop discipline over our physical bodies.
